Worship Leading, Culture Building, & Gospel Identity

6-months / Limited to 12

"Let me help you become the worship leader God made you to be"

$130 / Month

Session Overview

Our success in the journey homewards isn’t a question of being ready. It’s about a willingness. Do you hunger for the journey? During these next 6 months we will challenge ourselves to shift our perspective in areas of our relationship with God and our relationship with ministry. We’re about to cast off from the port and make our way into the open sea—everything is about to change...

1. Dreamscaping – Ministry Without Borders

“If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up the men to gather wood, divide the work, and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea.” Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Where there is vision, people thrive. When it comes to leading well, I’m convinced casting vision is the single greatest tool in a ministry leader’s tool belt and perhaps the least understood or utilized. It’s certainly one of the least developed and taught skills in our churches. What is vision casting? What if you don’t have a developed vision? We’ll wrestle with a process for developing both vision and buy-in that I’ve seen consistently produce results in volunteer teams.

Visioneering – Andy Stanley

2. Organizational Leadership 101

For those of us in largely volunteer organizations, creating authentic community can be a tricky thing. Together we’ll learn some ways to do it effectively through ministry evaluation and lifecycle analysis.

We’ll also talk through systems for developing/promoting volunteers and a powerful recruiting approach most worship leaders haven’t considered.

Living the Life You Were Meant To Live – Tom Patterson
Lasting Impact – Carey Nieuwhof
Sticky Teams – Larry Osborn

3. Housing an Environment

We all want to be leading genuinely transformational communities, but building culture or shifting the culture we are currently in can seem like a daunting task. Sometimes we believe the lies that change is impossible in our paradigm- we don’t have the resources, or we’d have to put our whole lives on hold to make it happen. The truth is, movement in this area is God’s will for your house and there are some steps you can take right now to jumpstart your culture journey.

Multiply – Francis Chan
Deep Influence – TJ Addington
Organic Discipleship – Dennis McCallum & Jessica Lowery
Culture of Honor – Danny Silk

4. Identity

Spiritual authority trumps positional authority any day of the week, but where does it come from? The fact is many of us aren’t living in the abundance of life we’re meant to. The way I grew up, the Gospel was ‘ok’ news, but it certainly wasn’t ‘too good to be true’ news. If we can find breakthrough together in this area we’ll see our lives both off and on the platform come alive, and our relationships thrive.

The Naked Gospel – Andrew Farley
Two Kinds of Righteousness – E.W. Kenyon
The Pursuit of God – A. W. Tozer

5. Practical Things (and some not so practical)

There’s plenty of ideas and information out there. What many of us need is not more information, but filters for that information. In our time together we’ll talk through some ways to think about building sets, shaping an environment, and some of the ‘why’ behind what we’re really doing in our roles.

Walking on Water – Madeline L’Engle
Facing the Wall – Don Potter

6. The Truth About Worship

When I started this role I had no real understanding of what the function of praise and worship is in the Kingdom, what it’s accomplishing in the supernatural, or what it can do in the natural. Together we’ll distill down our rich history as a singing faith, find out what worship is pleasing to Him, and how to lead people into it.
