Core Question: How can I build my ministry's foundation for long term success?
Session One: "The Thrill Of Starting"
There are more than 1.5 million nonprofit organizations registered in the United States... what makes you think your idea is better than something that already exists? Many people start ideas and let their excitement energize it straight to... no where. Lets talk about your idea and refine it so that it has a chance of living beyond the excitement phase.
Session Two: "Foundation: It's Not About What You Do, It's How You Do"
There is a widely agreed upon theory that the most important thing in this world is WHY you do what you do. I agree but, for most of us in a course like this, the WHY is to serve the King of Kings with our dreams and desires. If we can quickly agree on the WHY, that leaves plenty of room to talk about the HOW. The name of the game is not WHAT we are going to do but HOW we are going to do it.
Session Three: "The Practical Week: Accounting, Legal, And All The Details" -
This month we are going to focus on what some view as the boring part of ministry: accounting/finance/legal/human resources and all the other details that must be setup correctly. One of the worst things we can do as ministry leaders is be so passionate about our "thing" that we neglect to properly steward the details of running an organization.
Session Four: "The Key To Growth: Focus"
This is one of the most difficult things young ministry leaders struggle through. When to say "Yes" to something and when to say "No" to something is like a bad game of Russian Roulette for some founders. This month we are going to talk about methods to stay hyper-focused on the mission the Lord has given you so that you can build a solid foundation for future growth.
Session Five: "Burnout: Don't Let It Happen To You"
It is the dark cloud that always seems to loom over founder's heads: Burnout. Let's talk to a key ministry leader this week who has experienced this first hand. Lets hear how they have battled through it and some ways they could have avoided it all together. Like is too short to spend stressed/over-worked/burnt-out.
Session Six: "The Next Man Up Approach"
Lastly, the best way to build an organization for long term success is to constantly have a heart of discipleship and generosity. God blesses those who consistently give their influence away for the betterment of others. Having the "Next Man Up Approach" allows you to take the pressure slowly off your shoulders and build up future leaders who can carry some weight.
